YOUR GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES

What’s Important to the Legislature
With heavy snows hitting the northern part of the state, the legislature is in full swing and agendas ar evaluated by the different committees. One of the most important on the agenda was and is the Photo Voter ID bill which the Progressive Democrats tried to set aside, because it was said “not to be germane to this legislative session”. This did not come as a surprise to most folks, since the progressives have not wanted anything that would stand in the way of their agenda.
It is not only germane as they put it, but it definitely is of the utmost importance to fair and honest elections in this state that are long overdue. New Mexico has become the laughing stock of the nation with people getting up out of their graves to vote, the stealing of votes by someone purporting to be someone else and voting in their place. These things are not just happening in Dona Ana County, but in the whole state. Fair and honest elections benefit the people of the entire state and convey the will of the majority.
To set such a bill aside would be ludicrous as well as working against the voters of this state; so finally with a flood of calls hitting the representatives’ offices, it was considered in their wisdom to allow it to be put on the floor. Of course the battle is not over there, now we must continue to push for the bill so we can overturn the voter fraud that is only beneficial to a few.
Another bill that seemed to be a “germane” item for the agenda though, was the bill to allow registration and same day voting. This bill was put into the system to circumvent the Photo Voter ID bill, by allowing people to vote the same day they register.
As a voter registrar I can tell you that such a bill would allow someone from another county, state or country to present fake ID, register and their vote would be counted before anyone could find out if they were legally a voter in good standing. How could there residence, eligibility, or even if they were in this country as an alien, or from this state be checked before they were allowed to cast a vote that would be counted. I would urge all the residents to call their representative and urge them to vote against this bill.
Hope is Still Afloat
There is still hope for the voters of this state. When you call to voice your opinion and get a secretary who takes down your information and phone number, it is then passed on to the legislator and believe me he/she listens, even if you think he/she doesn’t. It strikes fear into them by the chance of being voted out of office if they go against the will of the majority. Your opinion and your will is heard loud and clear, just as the will of the people of Massachusetts was heard in the recent election of Scott Brown to the Congress in a seat that was held by the Democrats for the last 40 years.
Letter to the editor in your local as well as statewide newspapers, phone calls, e-mails or any way you can get your message out to these legislators is a plus on the side of the voters. This is true not only on our state and local issues, but on the issues at the federal level as well. It is your voice that can make the change promised by your representatives in government during their run for office. If you hold these representatives accountable for the promises they made, you will gain what you want from them, and not what they would like to think you should have.
When you stand up and shout out your desires, it is heard by your entire system of government. They cannot close their ears to the loud din of the people if they speak with enough voices. It makes them nervous about what they thought in their minds and turns them to do the right thing by representing the people’s desires.
