PLOTTING BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

The Plot
It seems there may be a plot between Pelosi and Reid to sneak the Senate Health bill through the Congress despite the majority of the public’s non-approval for the present form of Health Care Reform. The loss of Congressional support for the bill with Scott Brown’s victory in the elections in Massachusetts has cause a row in the Congress over the balance needed to pass this bill.
It would seem from reports coming from Capital Hill that Obama, Reid and Pelosi have concocted a clever plan to go to the house with a two-part plan for the Senate version of Health Care Reform, supported by the top Democrats on the floor. First the Congress will pass the Senate version of the Health Care bill, previously passed in the Senate earlier. After the Congress and votes on the bill, with Pelosi allowing modifications and amendments, push through this ludicrous bill.
The problem that seems to arise is how will the conservative Democrats, with no provision for a public option, and giving no income tax surcharge to the more affluent? This is where the second phase of the plan will enter. It seems that Reid and Pelosi have at least agreed in concept, behind closed doors of course, that a few minor changes to the Senate bill will satisfy the more liberal of the Democrats after it is passed and signed by Obama. In other words the changes will be made to the bill after it has passed both houses and is signed into law by the President’s signature.
Why with the addition to the house of Scott Brown and such independent Democrats like Joe Lieberman the Senate does not have the 60 votes to overcome the filibuster can they get this bill through? Reid can give Pelosi a letter, signed by 52 Democrats in the Senate that they will pass the major changes the House Democrats want and these changes will be approved after the President has signed it into law. Reid will agree to by pass the filibuster because at this point only a simple majority is needed instead of required 60 votes needed before it is law.
This plan is a way to circumvent the law, but this makes no difference to Reid or Pelosi or for that matter Obama. When either house makes their agreements in conference committee, it is done with the majority of both houses. They sit behind closed doors and make their deals and then bring it to the floor the way it can be passed the easiest, then the compromised bill is sent back to the Senate and House and then voted on by the President.
Counter Move to Stop
The way to stop this from happening is for the moderate and conservative Democrats who the first time around voted for the bill to be swayed to voting no on the bill when it comes before the House. The public voter needs to contact their representatives and tell that the people do not want this bill by a 2 to 1 margin. By putting pressure on these representatives it will sway them to vote the way the constituents want.
When the Democrats voted for the Health Care bill the first time, it passed by only 5 votes, but there were many who voted for it that were skeptical that it was a good deal for their constituents, but bent under the pressure from Pelosi and the President. If they are flooded with calls from the constituents this time, it will cause them to think more clearly about what those constituents want.
The shock that hit the nation over the Massachusetts election was one that was heard around the world and sent a clear message that the people were tired of Obama and Pelosi not listening to them. Pelosi, Reid and Obama are determined to ram the bill through even though it is not wanted by the majority.
This would be almost the same as Argentina’s President Hippolito at the turn of the century trying to pass major social programs and have the affluent of the country pay for them. Soon the country was overloaded with social programs and not enough money coming in to support them. If it didn’t work for one of the richest countries in the world of that time, why would Obama, Reid and Pelosi, or any sane person think it would work now? Look at the shambles Argentina was left in after Hippolito and Peron created a socialist government in that country. They are still so deep in a depression more than 60 years later it is catastrophic for that nation. Do we want to repeat history that has caused such a ruination of a country this affluent?
If only half of these Democrat Congressmen hear the voices of their constituents and vote no on the bill it will die. This country cannot afford to supports a bill like this now or in the future. No countries can and survive. If the people and the conservatives act now, the bill can be quashed and we can go on to the next problem Obama, Reid, or Pelosi will create.
